Shenzhen-Microsoft Educational Information Technology Eco-system Industry Alliance Center

To make full use of Shenzhen’s existing cluster of intelligent terminal device producers, Microsoft has planned to set up its “Shenzhen-Microsoft Educational Information Technology Eco-system Industry Alliance Center.” The Center will be the site of Windows intelligent terminal device and app R&D, product display and promotion, technological demonstrations, and industrial application training (among other functions), will provide technical support and connections with global resources, and will explore the possibility of further expanding its industrial applications.

Microsoft IoT laboratory project

To further adapt to the industry’s newest developmental trends, Microsoft will proactively deploy services in sectors such as cloud computing and the Internet of Things (IoT), and will establish an IoT laboratory project in Shenzhen, thereby supporting the development of Shenzhen’s IoT industry. Microsoft’s CEO Satya Nadella stated during his tour of the Shenzhen IoT laboratory in June 2016, “Shenzhen is a key to Microsoft’s strategic plan for the global integration of software and hardware, and Microsoft will continue to partner with Shenzhen, and assist the upgrade and transformation of its local industrial environment.”

Microsoft Cloud Mobile Technology Incubator

Microsoft highly values its strategic cooperation with Shenzhen, and has made a series of investments in Shenzhen, such as Microsoft Asia-Pacific Research & Development Group-South China Headquarters, the Microsoft Asia Center for Hardware, and multiple independent R&D teams. In March 2015, Microsoft held its Windows Hardware Engineering Community conference (WinHEC2015) in Shenzhen. In June 2015, Microsoft established its “Cloud Mobile Technology Incubator” project in Shenzhen, to promote the innovative development of the cloud and mobile app industries.
