Luxor is the world's largest open-air museum, renowned as the "City of Palaces." The Nile River runs through the city, dividing it into two parts. Built on the ruins of the southern half of the ancient Egyptian capital, Thebes, it serves as Egypt's tourism center.
Luxor became a sister city of Shenzhen on Sept. 6, 2007.
